East Joliet Fire Protection District
Station 51 Improvements
As part of our Bond Referendum proposal for the March 2020 election, we expressed our need for an update to our main firehouse on Briggs St. This firehouse is the Headquarters for the Fire District and also staffs 4 personnel 24 hours a day. When the station was constructed in 1978, the department was only staffed by volunteers and the building design did not take into consideration daily full-time personnel. As part of the bond request, we promised to keep our residents updated with the funds used from our successful referendum. We would like to announce that earlier this summer the District chose FGM Architects, Inc to design a remodel/addition to Station 51 to add proper living quarters, unisex bathroom facilities, and modernize the station to today’s daily needs. The District also chose Carlson Construction to be the construction manager for the project. Below are the concept drawings for the project. This project is a much needed improvement for the day to day operations of the Fire District. The project is expected to be completed by late summer 2021. Once again, we would like to thank our residents for the opportunity given to us by your support in the March 2020 referendum.
