East Joliet Orders New Rescue Pumper
In the spring of 2016 a committee was formed to begin planning for a new fire engine to replace a 1996 Pierce Saber which currently runs out of Station 52. It was decided that a rescue style engine would best fit the department’s needs by combining the current equipment on Squad 51 with the new engine. By replacing Engine 52 and combining Squad 51’s equipment into one apparatus, it will allow the department to respond to both fire and rescue calls with one vehicle carrying the essential equipment for both types of incidents. The apparatus committee worked with three company’s during a year long process to find the right apparatus to best fit the department and fire district’s needs. We are happy to announce that the District Trustees have approved the winning bid from A.E.C. Fire & Safety for the purchase of a new custom Ferrara Cinder MVP Rescue Pumper with an expected delivery sometime in spring of 2018. Both Engine 52 and Squad 51 will be sold to make room for the new rescue/engine. Once in service, sometime in the summer of 2018, it will run out of Station 51 on Briggs St as Squad 51. The current Engine 51, a 2009 Pierce Saber, will be moved to Station 52 and run as Engine 52.
